Who's The Real Bill Frist? A Concerned Doctor and Citizen - Or Just Another "Businessman" In Washington? Bill Frist in December of 2003 when speaking of issues relating to shortages in flu vaccines stated that part of the problem was the "high cost of litigation - the frivolous lawsuits that come from these little, tiny vaccines’.” Although I was personally not involved in any litigation against the pharmaceuticals, as a parent of a child with autism, I took great offense at such comments. Was Bill Frist a representative of the people or perhaps the representative of another group - the pharmaceutical industry - an industry to which he had very, very strong ties - personally and professionally! Bill Frist himself admits he wears many hats... senator, doctor, businessman, but, which hat does he prefer to wear? I certainly hope that Mr. Frist knows better than to stay out of any "consultant role" to the President in matters relating to immunizations or vaccine injury liability issues. Dr. Frist, after all, is a heart and lung surgeon - not an immunologist. Malpractice is defined in terms of "standard care". I guarantee you that when it comes to matters of "standard care" no sane person would be consulting a heart and lung doctor in matters relating to immunology. That would not be the "standard care" provided in a hospital - and it certainly would not be the "standard care" persons should expect from Washington. The only doctors advising the President in matters of immunology, the control of diseases worldwide and the possibility of vaccine injury and the balance between disease control and safety concerns should be immunologists! Bill Frist may stand in the Senate reminding everyone that he is a doctor, but, is he not wearing a business suit as he puts forth his policies. Frist is the heir to a huge healthcare organization. Is Bill Frist in Washington because he cares about healthcare issues as they relate to the average American or is he in Washington to protect his personal multi-million financial interests? His personal interests are closely tied to those of the pharmaceutical and HMO industry...and as such, one can not help but ask: Are Frist's policies and votes in the Senate "FRIST FIRST Aid©"? http://www.motherjones.com/coinop_congress/97mojo_400/especially.html The man now Senate majority leader - the man who is to head healthcare reform appears to have a few problems of his own. Bill Frist's "family business" was recently said to have experienced a little trouble - to the tune of $1.7 BILLION for defrauding the government. Are we, as a people, sure this is the man who should be heading government reform in healthcare? The following link provided insights as to which hat Bill Frist was truly wearing these days. Note that this article mentioned Bill Frist would save more lives if he supported embryonic stem cell research instead of playing politics. Well... truly the two go hand in hand given that stem cell research was also, in my opinion, very much a matter of politics - not science. There could be no denying that millions, if not billions were now tied to this industry. But, was it truly as promising as we had all been led to believe? There were many reasons for which I could never support embryonic stem cell research - first and foremost due to the fact that I was a Christian - but also, very much due to the fact that mercury was known to be most devastating to immature cells - and what were "stem cells" if not "immature cells". For more on this issue, I encouraged you to read my link entitled: The False Hope Of Stem Cell Research. The simple fact was that the pharmaceutical industry knew that mercury most impacted immature cells - as clearly indicated in the Simpsonwood transcripts - a meeting held to discuss the effects of mercury in vaccines - and as such, they had to know that stem cells - especially embryonic stem cells - were most "at risk" for mercury toxicity. I could not help but think that once again, this was but a major deception of the public - and another "big money industry" that was heading nowhere fast! Indeed, not surprisingly, adult stem cell research (stem cells taken from adults) showed much better results than what those in embryonic stem cell appeared to be achieving! The use of adult stem cells was not only "more promising", but certainly, the much better moral avenue! http://www.nationalreview.com/comment/comment-smith042302.asp http://www.philly.com/mld/inquirer/news/editorial/4939832.htm So, why all the deception in so many issues as they relate to "healthcare, vaccines, stem cell research, etc.". Truly, there could be no denying that too much in Washington, and in media, was under the control of the pharmaceutical industry! Note that Mr. Christopher Hogg recently became acting Chairman of GlaxoSmithKline upon the retirement announcement of Richard Sykes. Given Reuters provides one of the largest news information "feed services" worldwide to other news sources/agencies, is it any wonder the "press" for the pharmaceuticals is heavily weighted in favor of the pharmaceuticals when it comes to issues of autism! Note that the thimerosal study done in 2000 was done by a man who now works for GlaxoSmithKline... and that this study has been "revised"/"manipulated" several times now in a bogus attempt to manipulate the initial results/outcomes that showed a link between autism and thimerosal! For more on that issue, go to Reports link. Now, put that together with the fact that Bush, Sr. sat on the Board of Directors at Eli Lilly (http://www.newmediaexplorer.org/sepp/2003/09/10/washington_under_the_pharma_lilly.htm), that Bush, Jr. has surrounded himself with Eli Lilly executives (http://www.safeminds.org/liability_shield/oregonian/oregonian.html), and others, such as Rumsfeld (http://www.defenselink.mil/bios/rumsfeld.html) who served from 1977 to 1985 as CEO, President, and then Chairman of G.D. Searle & Co., another pharmaceutical and, clearly, it becomes quite obvious that both the media and politics appear to be anything but "objective" when it comes to matters of vaccine injury. In my opinion, there can be no denying that media and politics are both controlled by the pharmaceutical industry when it comes to "what the public and indeed - our military families - are told" about the safety of vaccines and health issues in general. If you tell a lie long enough, loud enough and often enough, the people will believe it. Adolf Hitler As the heir to a huge healthcare organization, it should come as no surprise that Bill Frist is also very much involved in The Patient's Bill Of Rights Legislation... arguing for caps in liability damages as far as how much HMOs could lose can be sued for. http://www.cnn.com/2001/ALLPOLITICS/06/21/patients.bill.bigp/ http://www.detnews.com/2002/politics/0212/24/a07-43839.htm http://www.gopbi.com/partners/pbpost/epaper/editions/saturday/news_e3306f4b94d0e17b00ff.html There is no denying that there are huge conflicts of interest for Bill Frist, Bush, Rumsfeld, Hogg, etc.. But, there are many other "Conflicts of Interest". Children are the world's most valuable resource and its best hope for the future. John F. Kennedy Behold... I come quickly;... to give every man according as his work shall be. Revelation 22:12
